Hamani T Holmes

Mr. Hamani Talamu "Moe" Holmes Sr., age 49, passed away on November 16, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on September 22, 1976, also in Indianapolis, Hamani spent his life rooted in the community that shaped him and to which he gave so much of himself. Known affectionately by many as “Big Moe,” “Mani Moe,” or “Poppa Moe,” Hamani was a man of vibrant creativity and deep loyalty. He had a gift for making people feel seen and valued, always showing up for those who mattered to him. Whether through a kind word, a shared laugh, or simply his presence at family gatherings and events with friends, Hamani made it clear that connection was at the heart of his life. Professionally, Hamani worked with Goodwill Industries where he had recently been promoted to a leadership role within their warehouse operations. Always striving for growth and self-improvement, he was actively training to obtain his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), demonstrating his commitment to building a better future for himself and those around him. Hamani’s creative spirit found expression in many forms. He was an avid writer and rapper who used words to tell stories and share his perspective with the world. His talents extended into visual arts as well—he enjoyed drawing and designing, often bringing bold ideas to life through his artwork. Cooking was another passion of his; he loved preparing meals that brought people together around the table. Entertaining came naturally to him—his energy lit up rooms and left lasting impressions on everyone he encountered. Family was central to Hamani’s world. He is lovingly remembered by his children: Hamani Holmes Jr., Jailn Holmes, , Kemani Emery, Braden Holmes, Brooke Holmes, Graelyn Holmes, and Gavalin Holmes. He also leaves behind Tara Carter, mother of his children; his brother Roderick Moore; grandchildren Safiya Darr, Jalin Holmes Jr., Khalil Orlando Holmes, Malik Darr, Saija Holmes, and Isla Holmes; along with many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who were all part of the extended family network that meant so much to him. Hamani now joins in rest his grandparents Reverend B.T. Moore Sr. and Pastor Elizabeth Moore; his mother Louise Moore; and father Earnest Holmes Jr., son, Ernest Sneed whose memories live on through the lives they touched. A memorial service celebrating Mr. Hamani Talamu "Moe" Holmes Sr.’s life was held in Indianapolis on November 23rd at New Direction Church. Hamani's legacy is one of resilience, creativity, and unwavering love for those around him. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him and continue to inspire those whose lives he touched. A Funeral Service will be held on December 5, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 01:00 PM at Quincy Webster Funeral Home 2805 North Franklin Road
