Harold Coleman Jr.

Harold Coleman Jr. was born on April 18, 1961, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Harold Coleman Sr. and Laura Williams. As the youngest of four children, Harold entered this world with a bright spirit, a loving heart, and an energy that would remain with him throughout his life. He was a man whose presence could light up any room, whose laughter was contagious, and whose love for family, faith, and community left a lasting impression on everyone he met. From an early age, Harold professed his faith in Jesus Christ, establishing a spiritual foundation that guided him throughout his life. His relationship with God shaped his character, compassion, and unwavering belief in the power of faith. He later became a devoted member of Sunrise Missionary Baptist Church, where he found great joy in worship, sharing the Lord's goodness, and praising God for His many blessings. Harold's love for basketball began as a young boy at the Boys & Girls Club, where he spent countless hours perfecting his skills and developing a passion for the game. His dedication, natural athleticism, and competitive spirit quickly set him apart from his peers. By the time he entered Broad Ripple High School, Harold had already established himself as an exceptional athlete. A proud Broad Ripple Rocket, Harold made history as the first freshman selected to play on the varsity basketball team, earning the position of starting point guard. His leadership on the court, determination, and talent made him a standout player throughout his high school career. Harold's hard work and commitment to excellence culminated in his senior year when he graduated from Broad Ripple High School as the team's Most Valuable Player (MVP). His accomplishments brought pride to his family, teammates, coaches, and the Broad Ripple community. The values he learned through basketball—discipline, teamwork, perseverance, and leadership—remained with him throughout his life and influenced the man he became. During his youth, Harold lived with his parents, Harold and Dorothy Coleman. Together, their blended family grew into a loving household of twelve children. Within that large family, Harold's charm, humor, and easygoing nature made him unforgettable. He was well-spoken, effortlessly stylish, and carried himself with a quiet confidence that drew people to him wherever he went. Whether sharing stories, offering advice, or simply making others laugh, Harold had a special gift for connecting with people. To know Harold was to know someone who never met a stranger. It often seemed as though he knew half of Indianapolis, and wherever he went, someone recognized him. His warm personality, genuine kindness, and ability to make people feel welcome allowed him to form friendships everywhere he went. Harold was the kind of man who would help a stranger and leave with a new friend. He believed in people, often seeing potential in others before they saw it in themselves. Beyond his athletic achievements, Harold was a gifted entrepreneur whose passion for automobiles and commitment to excellence led him to establish Not A Spot Mobile Detail Service. Through dedication, hard work, and exceptional customer service, Harold built a business that became well-known and respected throughout Indianapolis. From the west side to the east side of the city, customers sought his services for his attention to detail, professionalism, and pride in his work. During Indiana's colder winter months, Harold expanded his business operations along Florida's coast, where he continued to build relationships and earn the trust of a new community through the same high standards that had defined his success. Harold's business was more than a source of income—it was an opportunity for him to uplift others. If a man was struggling to find work, Harold often welcomed him into his business and gave him a chance. He understood that sometimes all a person needs is someone to believe in them and provide an opportunity. Through his generosity, mentorship, and willingness to help others get back on their feet, Harold impacted countless lives. Many people found not only employment through him, but also encouragement, dignity, and friendship. Outside of work, Harold enjoyed many of life's simple pleasures. He loved cars, motorcycles, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. Whether casting a line into the water, talking sports, admiring a classic car, or simply enjoying the company of loved ones, Harold found joy in creating meaningful memories with those around him. Above all else, Harold was a man with a generous heart. He gave freely of his time, wisdom, and resources, never expecting anything in return. Whether helping a friend, supporting family, or lending a hand to someone in need, Harold lived by the belief that blessings were meant to be shared. His kindness, compassion, and unwavering support of others will remain one of the many legacies he leaves behind. Harold was preceded in death by his beloved father, Harold Coleman Sr.; his loving Mother, Laura Williams; his sisters, Wendy Coleman and Helen Matthews; and other cherished family members who welcomed him into eternal rest. He leaves to cherish his precious memory his mother, Dorothy Coleman; his brother, Harry Coleman; his step-siblings, Michellie Joe Dixon, Earl Jr. Dixon, David Dixon, and Pamela Graves; his children, Jarron Coleman, Kyia Ratcliff, and Kyondra Coleman; seven cherished grandchildren; three treasured great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and lifelong friends. Each carries with them a piece of Harold's spirit, wisdom, humor, and love. Harold's life was one marked by faith, resilience, hard work, and devotion to those he loved. His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched, the relationships he nurtured, and the memories he created. Though he may no longer walk beside us, his spirit will forever remain in our hearts, guiding us through the lessons he taught and the love he shared. As we celebrate Harold's life, we remember a man who lived with purpose, loved deeply, worked tirelessly, and trusted faithfully in God.
