Katrina Louise Shute

Katrina Louise Shute, affectionately known as "Trina, Momma, MeMe, Momma Trina, Ms. Shute" was born on September 29, 1956, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Robert W. "Bobby" Smith Sr. and Marie Knox Smith-Sanders. She attended Otis E. Brown School #20 and graduated from Manual High School, where she enjoyed playing volleyball. Trina married her best friend and high school . sweetheart, “Peter,” and from this union, three . children, Deandra, Larry Jr. "Buddy," and . Marshall Shute were born. Becoming a wife, . mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother . were among Trina’s most cherished . accomplishments, as she deeply loved her . family. Trina professed her faith in Christ at an early age at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church. She had a passion for sewing, crafting, gardening, cooking, playing slots and cards. She loved activities that allowed her to use her hands to make, create, or fix things. She was the go to person to friends and family when anyone needed something sewed. Watching The Young and the Restless with a cup of black coffee brought her great joy and peace. Trina was a dedicated worker for United Parcel Services (UPS), and a proud member of the Teamsters Local Union No. 135. Trina retired at the age of 55 after 35 years of service. After retiring, she moved to Phoenix, AZ with her husband, Peter, where she overcame a respiratory ailment. After three years, she returned to Indianapolis, IN, missing her family, especially her grandchildren. Trina was a strong woman who bravely battled breast cancer twice before her final illness, liver cancer. Trina departed this life peacefully on July 19, 2024, at 3:50 P.M. at the age of 67. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert W. "Bobby" Smith Sr., Marie Knox Smith-Sanders, and Carl Sanders Jr. (step-father); her brother, Robert W. "Junie" Smith Jr.; and her son, Marshall Jerome Shute. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Larry S. "Peter" Shute Sr.; her daughter, Deandra E. Wilkins (Ja'Kquwan); her son, Larry S. "Buddy" Shute Jr. (Erica); Deja R. Smith oldest granddaughter and caregiver, 11 grandchildren; 3 greatgrandchildren; her sisters, Wonda Smith, Chyerle Leach of Stockton, CA; her brothers, Rommel K. Smith (Dyanne), Columbus, OH, Dean K. Smith (Jody), Eric T. Smith (Cherlynn) all of Indianapolis, IN; her step-brothers, Patrick Bundles, and Sean Bundles (Sherice); her step-sisters, Phyillies Burks-Beatty, Kimberly Bundles, and Jamia Bundles Sargent (Randy); and a host of nieces (Special acknowledgement goes to two nieces who devoted time to her “near and far”; Kewana Parker of Indianapolis, IN and Cassie Garner of Stockton, CA), nephews, cousins, extended family, and many dear friends.
