Kenneth L Porter

Kenneth Leon Porter, was born October 26th, 1963, to the late Evia (Lay) Porter and Lee Andrew Porter in Indianapolis, Indiana. Kenneth had eight siblings, Dorise, Mattie, Patricia, Lee, Carl, Cena, Bryant, and Marc Kenneth attended Indianapolis Public Schools and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School. Upon graduation, Kenneth worked in various positions. In 1987 he united in matrimony to the late Tonya C. Jackson. In this union, two daughters were born. Kenneth accepted Christ early in his life and his faith was very important to him. In 1998 Kenneth met the love of his life, Marla Williams. The two were joined in holy matrimony and shared 23 years of love, laughter, and adventure. Combined they had 4 beautiful daughters who absolutely adored their father. Although firm, he was the ultimate girl dad and didn’t care who knew it. Kenneth and Marla relocated to Birmingham, Alabama in August of 2000. They spent the years after making friends, joining various social clubs, and traveling which was one of his favorite things to do. Kenneth retired in June of 2023 from the Jefferson County Department of Health after several years of being a dedicated employee. Kenneth was known for his infectious smile and playful demeanor. You could always find him cracking jokes, laughing or bragging about one of the accomplishments his daughters had just completed. Kenneth was a hard worker. Not only did he work during the day, he also work various side jobs outside his normal job. He was a fair and honest person whose work was always immaculate and done to perfection. Kenneth departed this life on September 22nd, 2023 at the age of 59. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Andrew & Evia Porter; his siblings, Lee Andrew Jr. & Dorise Fingers (James). He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife, Marla (Williams) Porter; beloved daughters, Dee Dee Porter, Jasmine Singfield (Ramone), Marissa Skipwith-Carey (Solomon), and Kendra Porter; grandchildren, Gabrielle Porter, Joshua Porter, Avery Carey, Ramone (Cube) Singfield III, and Giselle Singfield; siblings, Mattie Fishback (Joe), Patricia Black, Carl Porter, Cena Holland (Ken), Bryant Porter, and Marc Porter. He is also remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones.
