Alaita R Henderson

September 7, 1945 - February 22, 2022

Alaita Rene’ Henderson was born in San Francisco, CA to the late Tracey Woodgett and Saunda Campbell on September 7, 1945. Shortly after Alaita was born, her parents relocated to Muncie, IN where she resided until moving to Anderson, IN for the past 39 years. Alaita graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1964. She was employed by General Motors until her retirement in 2003. Alaita confessed Jesus Christ as her savior at an early age and was a member of Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Indianapolis, IN until her transition. Alaita enjoyed doing word-search puzzles, watching tv shows, the outdoors, dancing, and spending time with her family. She loved attending church and looked forward to dining afterwards with her family on Sunday afternoons. Alaita had a heart of gold, and everyone enjoyed her presence. Alaita will be dearly missed by her loved ones. Alaita Henderson passed away February 22, 2022, at the age of 76, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital Indianapolis. Alaita is survived by her son, Anthony Young (Indianapolis, IN); daughters, Mia Mimms (Indianapolis, IN) and Kimberly Henderson Smith (Muncie, IN); brothers, Talford (Carmelita) Campbell, Tracy Woodgett III, Melvin Woodgett, Gregory Woodgett (Vera), Stanley Woodgett (Ramona), and Jeffrey Woodgett; sisters, Kathy Woodgett and Jennifer Woodgett; 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Alaita was preceded in death by her grandparents Samuel Davis and Alene Flye, parents Tracey Woodgett and Saunda Campbell, sisters Traceyna Wilkins and Harriott Thomas, and brother-in-law Frankie Thomas. Services and visitation will be on Friday, March 4, 2022 at Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church, 4958 Ribble Road. Visitation will be from 10-12pm with services at 12pm. Interment will be at Beech Grove Cemetery in Muncie, Indiana on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 10am. Please keep the family in your prayers.
