Gwenevera Patterson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Gwenevera Patterson was born January 15th, 1955, in Indianapolis, IN. Gwen is the eldest of 4 children born to the late Clarence and Erma Jean Arnold. Gwen was educated in Indianapolis Public Schools graduating from George Washington High School in 1974. Gwen was a very ambitious, goal oriented and very driven, always pushing the envelope of what it meant to achieve your goals. Gwen was a determined woman if you knew Gwen you knew leadership as she was always willing to step up and take charge. In 1974 Gwen was married Mr. Dennis G. Patterson Sr. Moving to Philadelphia, PA to start a new life, to this union three children were born. Dennis Jr., Tolvi, and Lateefah Patterson. While in Philadelphia Gwen attend Delaware Community College where she completed a unit secretary certification ushering her into a lengthy career in the medical field. Later, after moving back to Indianapolis three became five when they welcomed Adtwan “Twan” and Christina completing the family. Later Gwen and Dennis Sr. would separate yet they remained friends and continued to co-parent their children. Gwen placed all her energy into loving and providing for her family. Amongst her children she was known as “SARGE or the WARDEN” as she didn’t play when it came to respect and order. Known as the parent that was serious about her children and how they were raised always pushing them to be the best that they can be no matter the obstacle. One of her greatest Joys was seeing her children and grandchildren achieve their goals. Often you could hear her speaking of how proud of them she was, how much she loved and valued who they were and were becoming. You could always find Gwen cooking for her family, playing games or traveling to see family. Everyone has their favorite “Ms. Gwen” story or memory with her that will continue to rest in our hearts and minds. Gwenevera Patterson departed this life Sunday May 22nd, 2022, at the age of Sixty-Seven. She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons Dennis (Karen) Patterson Jr., Tolvi R. Patterson, two daughters Lateefah Patterson, Christina (Russell) Monroe, two granddaughters Kirstin D. Patterson and Kyra E. Patterson, one grandson Naxavier E. Boyd, Fiancé, Gary Stewart, Sister, Tawana M. Arnold, Sister in Love Deidre Hughes nieces, Corissa Nelson, Charmaine (Nafis) Washington, great nieces Zyllah Lovett, Mikayla Washington, Nazhae’ Washington. Nephew Jeffrey (Kelli) Morris Jr. great nephew Ayden S. Morris, God Family Raenel, Sean and Grant Rivers and a host of friends, relatives, and community family.
