Mildred Lavonne Parris

September 28, 1948 - January 23, 2022

Mildred Lavonne Henderson was born September 28, 1948 in Knoxville, TN. She was the daughter of Roy and Helen Ruth Henderson. Mildred was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School. Mildred married Leon Buckhalter. This union resulted in three daughters. Mildred later married William Parris. William proceeded her in death. Mildred, confessed her love for Christ at an early age. Mildred loved the Lord. She was a faithful member of Mt Helm Missionary Baptist Church. Mildred had a servant's heart. She served in many auxiliaries and ministries. Mildred passionately served as president of the Pastor Aide's ministry until she took ill. Mildred put her heart and soul in all that she did. Mildred, was a loving mother, sister, aunt, cousin, grandmother and friend. Mildred was dedicated to caring for the ones she loved. She devoted her life to serving others. Mildred was very instrumental in molding youth through her leadership in Girl Scouts and Vacation Bible School. She was very crafty and creative. There was no task Mildred was not willing to tackle. Mildred exemplified grace, love and strength. Mildred, departed this life on January 23, 2022 at 2:40p. Mildred was a fighter until the end. She is a testimony that God indeed has the final say so. She was preceded in death by her father Roy Henderson, stepfather Jesse Price Sr, sister, Libbie and brother Anthony Widener. Mildred leaves to cherish precious memories of her life in the hearts of her daughters, Sherri (Mark) Goodner, Leshell (Jacque) Bartlett and LaVonne (Darrel) Jones. Godson Brandon Hall. Mother, Helen Price. Brothers Craig Henderson, Jesse Price Jr, Vincent E (Manoli) Price and Reggie Widener. Sisters, Betty Newbolt, Diane Brooks and Spring Majors. Eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one on the way. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mildred Lavonne Parris, 73, passed on January 23, 2022. Services and visitation will be on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Quincy J Webster Funeral Chapel, 2805 N. Franklin Road. Interment will be at Sutherland Park Cemetery. Visitation 11-12pm services to follow at 12pm.
