John Lee Peterson

John “Mickey” “Pete” “Sarge” Lee Peterson son, of the late John Sr. and Ruth Peterson, was born May 28, 1943 in Jacksonville, FL. “Mickey” received his early and secondary education in Georgia before joining the Army in 1961, where he served and eventually retired in Fort Ord, California in 1987. After returning to”civilian” life, “Pete” went back to school where he received his Associates degree from Hartnell College in Salinas, California. He then worked for a company called Cambridge International where he oversaw warehouse products being shipped out. He was also in charge of food preparations for many outings the company may have had. Some of his favorite passions were cooking, gardening and entertaining. He was known throughout family and friends as the “Fish and Hushpuppies” man! EVERYONE LOVED HIS COOKING! In 1985 he met and fell in love with the love of his life Sandra Kay or “Baby” as he loving referred to her as. They were joined in matrimony on May 28, 2004. During their 30+ year courtship, you would never find one without the other and now they are forever with each other. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather. John confessed his life to Christ at an early age and believed in the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord called John home a day before his 82 nd birthday and the day before his wedding anniversary, Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at the age of eighty-one. John was preceded in death by his wife Sandra Kay Peterson, his parents, John Peterson and Ruth Peterson, his son John Jr., his sisters Cassandra Peterson, Joyce Ann Peterson, Julia Taylor, and Debra Peterson. He leaves to cherish his memory; his sisters Betty Jones, Carolyn Sherrod, Brothers Lawrence Peterson, Lewis Peterson (Mary) George Mathis Jr., daughters Margo Warren, Nicole Guiles (Kenneth), Mananna “Mimi” Allen (Arthur) Talia Hardy, Nakitia Miller, Sabrina Peterson and Eboni Peterson; grandchildren Eudahnas Hale(Jason) Destinee Crutchfield, Rennell Johnson, Merecedes Hardy, Jayda Boatwright, Tyra Hardy, Jonell Guiles, Jayda Guiles, Imani Allen, Jalen Allen, Kayla Allen, Cashayala Miller, Keyshawn Miller, Kennan Jones, Darrion Jones, Lyric Peterson, Mellodie Gipson, Ciel Peterson-Gipson, Malia Hoffman; great grandchildren James Napier, Serenity Hale, Journey Hale, Erias Freeman, Leyla Freeman, Maurice Hardy, Marcelle Hardy, Dreya Winston, Tremon Ashford; great great grandchild Z’Ariyana Hardy; and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and close friends.
