Raymond Bernard Wells Sr.

Raymond Bernard Wells, Sr. was born on April 4, 1985, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Rodney Bernard Wells, Sr. and Angela Wells-Bates-Reeves in Indianapolis, Indiana. Raymond was a foundation of love and joy to all who knew him. His vibrant spirit and infectious laughter will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community. Raymond was raised by his loving mother and father, who instilled in him the values of hard work, kindness, and integrity. He was preceded in death by his father, Rodney Bernard Wells, his sister-in-law, Chanelle Wells; grandparents, James and Sarah Wells and John and Valree Hallowell; Uncle Michael Wells, aunties, Dorothy Whitfield and Debra Wells. These losses shaped Raymond into the compassionate and strong man he became, always cherishing the memories of those who came before him. Raymond attended Warren Central High School, where he developed lifelong friendships and cultivated his love for basketball. He also worked with Fathers and Families, where he received a certificate of achievement. Whether on the court, or playing NBA 2K with friends, his energy and enthusiasm were undeniable. His love for the game was matched only by his generosity and warmth off the court. While attending New Bethel Baptist Church, Raymond accepted Christ in his life at the young age of 12. During this time, he was a member of the Boy Scouts, Sunday school, starlight band, and the drill team. Professionally, Raymond was a dedicated forklift operator at Fastenal Warehouse. His strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to his job earned the respect of his colleagues. He took great pride in his role, always willing to lend a helping hand and contribute to a positive work environment. In his personal life, Raymond found love and companionship with his significant other, Amber Gaines. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories. He was a devoted father to his children—Ra’Niyah Wells (Tika), Rylee Gibson-Wells (Toya), Alajah Leavell, Raegan Wells, and Raymond Wells, Jr. (Amber). He took immense pride in their accomplishments, always encouraging them to pursue their dreams and supporting them every step of the way. Raymond is survived by his mother Angela Well-Bates-Reeves, his children, Ra’Niyah, Alajah, Rylee, Raegan, and Raymond Jr.; his brothers, Rodney Wells, Jr., Randy Wells, Sr. (Stephanie), and Ronnie Wells; his cherished grandmother, Rose M. Turnley; uncles, Steve, Victor Sander (Cathey) and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts. Though Raymond Bernard Wells, Sr. may no longer walk among us, his spirit will live on through the love, laughter, and kindness he shared. As we remember him, let us carry forward his legacy and honor his memory with the same warmth and generosity he gave to others.
