Robert W Smith Jr

Robert William Smith, Jr. (affectionately known as Junie, Pops, and PaPa), was born April 4 th , 1952 in Toledo Ohio to Robert William Smith Sr. and Marie Knox Smith Sanders. He received is elementary and secondary education in Indianapolis, Indiana at Otis E. Brown school #20 and Emmerich Manual High School. Robert enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp after graduating high school and was honorably discharged after serving 4 years. Robert was employed at the family businesses Robger Inc. and Furniture Plus, that specialized in custom commercial cabinetry and custom furniture for private homes and businesses. He along with his father and brothers had very unique talents and their custom handmade work was always in demand. Robert accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church, where he would often attend services with his mother. Robert later relocated to Columbus, Ohio where his brother Rommel resides and showcased his talents there as well. Within a couple of years, he returned to Indianapolis, Indiana and was employed at Toyoshima Service Springs as a laborer for several years until he retired from the workforce. Robert enjoyed family gatherings and sports in all capacities. He loved good home cooked meals and our family always watched in awe as he prepared his plate to eat, as if he was a surgeon preparing for a major operation. His preparations always bought so much humor at our family functions and we will forever remember how serious he was on these special occasions. Almost immediately after completing his meal, he would always look for carry home containers to take his meal home for the next day. We will always cherish those moments. Robert departed this life on Saturday, October 2 nd , 2021 at the age of 69 years. He was preceded in death by both of his parents. He leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life 4 sons, Antonio Washington (Alysha), Lamondrel Edmond (Shalan), Ontario Anderson and Courtney Webster, 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; sisters Wonda Smith, Katrina Shute (Peter), Chyerle Leach of Stockton, CA, and Cathy Newell; brothers Rommel Smith (Dyanne) of Columbus, OH, Dean Smith, Eric Smith (Cherlynn), and Kevin Smith; step-mother’s Diana Burks Smith and Geraldine Bundles Smith; step-brothers Gary Sanders, Patrick Bundles, Sean Bundles (Sherice); step-sisters Beverly Bobbitt, Phyillies Burks, Kimberly Bundles and Jamia Sargent (Randy); and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends that he loved dearly.
