Willie Mae Brewer

Willie Mae Osborne Brewer was born on January 22, 1940, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, to the late Willie Lee Osborne and Mary Clardy. Willie Mae was the eldest of eight siblings and carried the natural role of nurturer and leader throughout her life. She received her education through the Christian County School System and, after high school, married the love of her life, Andrew Kelley Brewer, a devoted union that lasted an incredible 62 years. Together, they relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1963, where they raised four beautiful children: Linda Osborne, Sylvia Nichols, Angela Brewer, and Anthony Brewer. At an early age, Willie Mae gave her life to Christ. She was a faithful and active member of Abundant Faith Missionary Baptist Church, where she served wholeheartedly on the Mother’s Board, Usher Board, and Nursing Committee. She helped organize countless church events and shared her God-given gift of song as a member of the choir. Whether in church or at home, she was known to lift her voice in praise without hesitation — her joy for the Lord was contagious. Willie Mae was the heart of her family and a true matriarch. She opened her home — and her heart — to everyone. Her warmth and kindness made all who knew her feel welcome. She loved taking drives around the city to visit family and friends, stopping in just to share a laugh or a smile. Some of her favorite pastimes included going to “The Green Patch,” browsing garage sales, and dining at her favorite restaurants, Olive Garden and Red Lobster. She never turned down an ice-cold bottle of Pepsi, especially while preparing one of her famous Sunday dinners. Her home was always filled with good food, love, laughter, and the sweet scent of flowers from her well-tended garden. Willie Mae was truly a light to those around her — her laughter could fill a room, and her spirit could lift even the heaviest hearts. She lived a life full of love, faith, and generosity, leaving behind memories that will forever bring comfort to those who were blessed to know her. On October 9, 2025, at the age of 85, Willie Mae Brewer peacefully transitioned from this life and entered into eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Lee and Mary Osborne, four brothers (Earl, Robert, Calvin, and Daniel Osborne), one sister (Mary Glen Osborne), two beloved grandsons (Dante Osborne and Darryl Nichols) and one great granddaughter (Nariyah Watson). Willie Mae leaves to cherish her loving memory her devoted husband Andrew Brewer; her children Linda Osborne (James Ray), Sylvia Nichols (Daryl Nichols), Angela Brewer (Terry Middleton), and Anthony Brewer (Tamika Brewer); her sisters Gloria Sharber and Georgia Parker; five grandchildren (Anthony Brewer Jr., Mahogany Childs, Jaszlynn Brewer, Sade Ray, and Tylan Campbell); and six great-grandchildren (Elyssa Nichols, Abrielle Forbes-Brewer, Anthony Brewer III, Darryl Nichols Jr., Alyse Brewer, and Akai Brewer). She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends who will continue to honor her legacy through the love and joy she so freely shared. Willie Mae’s life was a true example of faith, family, and kindness — and though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
