Willie J Gingles

Willie James Gingles was born on April 15, 1933, in Gastonburg, Alabama, to Esly and Elnora Jingles. Willie was the oldest of nine children. Willie received his education at Sidney Chapel Elementary School and attended Thompson Training High School. Willie at the age of 17 moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, and was employed at Dixon Tom-At-Toe Produce. Willie also worked at Indiana Garage. Later he found employment as the Store Manager at Walt’s Supermarket for 23 years. Afterwards, he was employed at IUPUI where he retired with 20 years of service. He also worked for Eli Lilly and Indianapolis Housing Agency part-time. Willie professed his faith in Christ at an early age at Sidney Chapel A.M.E. Upon moving to Indianapolis Willie became a faithful member at New Garfield Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on the Deacon and Trustee Boards. Willie loved to cook, dance, pray, sing, and listen to Gospel Music. While working at Dixon Tom-At-Toe Produce, he met the late Margaret (Bausley) Gingles, and they wed in Holy Matrimony March 26, 1954. Willie and Margaret shared over 38 years of marriage. He was a devoted and loving husband and father to his two sons and daughter. He loved traveling and spending time with his family and extended family. He also loved his church and the members. Willie departed this life on Monday, August 4, 2025. Willie was preceded in death by his late wife Margaret Gingles, his parents Esly and Elnora Jingles, three sisters Bessie Pickens, Josie Jingles, and Ollie Harris; and two brothers, Esly Jingles Jr., and James Jingles, son Charles F. Gingles Sr, and grandson Charles F. Gingles Jr. He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his children Terry Gingles Sr. (Mildred) and April L. Jackson. One brother Jimmie Jingles (Teresa); two sisters, Mary Laing, and Elnora Jingles. Five grandchildren Darrick Gingles, Terry Gingles Jr (Carmen), Lanelle Daniels-Stringer (Kenneth), Kimborah Croom (Randall), Curtis L. Daniels III (Kashauna); 16 great grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter; his loving companion of over 20 years Donna Jones and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends who loved and will miss him very much. His legacy will continue to live through all of us.
